Deep green Bloodstone, scattered with orange-red flecks, gives one face of this Victorian locket a richly patterned centre. Turn it over and a smooth oval of brick-red Carnelian offers a quite different view. Both stones are outlined by narrow rims and a repeating border of small triangular details, with a plain outer edge containing the brighter pattern.

The locket has a 9ct Gold back and front, with a simple oval jump ring above. It opens along a side hinge to reveal two oval compartments with glass frames, bringing a hidden layer to the double-sided design. The matching borders give the two contrasting gemstone faces a shared outline.

MEASUREMENTS: Locket measures 31mm long including jump ring.
Locket measures 19mm wide.
Carnelian measures 17mm long x 13mm wide.
Bloodstone measures 17.5mm long x 13.5mm wide.
WEIGHT: 7.2g.

MATERIALS: Tests as 9ct Gold in the back and front, metal frames & hinge for strength & durability, Carnelian, Bloodstone.

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

PACKAGING: Your order will be gift-wrapped free of charge in a Lillicoco cardboard box made from recycled materials, tied with a ribbon.

Condition

VERY GOOD: The polished stones show fine surface marks, while the patterned borders remain well defined. There are small splits beside the stones in their settings, although the stones remain secure. The Gold has surface wear and patina. The locket closes with a click.
