A deep red Garnet cabochon rises from a circle of Pearls in this richly detailed Victorian pendant. Its rounded surface carries bright scarlet reflections, while the smaller Pearls bring a softer lustre to the surrounding halo. Fine rope-like borders trace the stone and Pearl setting in 18ct Gold, drawing the eye through the concentric layers.

Above the roundel, two curling Gold forms meet beneath the oval bail. Graduated Gold beads frame the sides and lower edge, leading to a little articulated drop with curled tips.

Turn it over to find the circular locket back, with a pale fabric insert surrounded by a broad, plain Gold panel: a quieter detail hidden behind the elaborate front.

MEASUREMENTS: Pendant measures 50mm long including bail.
Pendant measures 20mm wide.
Garnet measures 11.5mm in diameter, weighing approx. 7.85ct.
Pearls measure 2mm in diameter.
WEIGHT: 6.8g.

MATERIALS: Tests as 18ct Gold, Garnet (7.85ct), Pearl.

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.
